Caring in Bracknell Forest
Do you live or care for someone in Bracknell Forest? SIGNAL is funded to provide free support and advice for adults caring for adults including young carers approaching adulthood and carers of disabled children approaching adulthood.

Young Carers
A young carer is someone under 18 helping to look after someone with their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction.
Adult Carers
A adult carer is someone over 18 helping to look after someone usually another adult with their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction.
Parent Carers
A parent carer is someone over 18 who provides care to a disabled child for whom they have parental responsibility.

The Carer Poverty Coalition recently launched a new petition calling on the Government to review and reform Carer's Allowance. As part of the Carer Poverty Coalition, Carers Trust is supporting the petition and urge the government to increase the amount of financial support which carers receive and review the eligibility criteria. Petition: Review and reform Carer's Allowance to increase support and reduce overpayments
We want a full review and reform of Carer’s Allowance to ensure that it works well at supporting unpaid carers, including raising the level and eligibility criteria for the benefit. We want systems to be modernised and urgent action from DWP to cap and prevent large overpayment debts for carers.
