Quit smoking with new council service

Bracknell Forest Council is pleased to announce its new smoking cessation service ‘Smoke Free Life Berkshire’.

Smoking is the leading cause of preventable illness and premature death, accounting for approximately 77,900 deaths a year in England. Locally, 11.9% of Bracknell residents are smokers. In order to help them kick the addictive habit, the council has commissioned a new cessation service that will be available to all through either online and digital tools or face-to-face support.

Smoke Free Life Berkshire will also be working to address health inequalities amongst Bracknell Forest by offering support to identified groups where smoking rates are higher. The new service will be responsible for supplying intensive behaviour change support, such as helping people to identify their triggers to smoke. Residents will also be able to access free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) in order to manage cravings and aid them to successfully quit.
